All group classes are currently offered online only, via Zoom live video chat. We look forward to offering in-person classes again once we are able!

We’ve created a range of new limited time offerings, our way of giving you some low-commitment options for the current time. Benefits to you: Shorter sessions, 1-4 session classes, affordable, great for dogs who couldn’t otherwise join a group class, low-distraction environment (depending on your home) for your dog’s learning, no commute time, no car rides for dogs with carsickness or car phobia, meet from the safety and comfort of your own home…all with the same personal attention and one-on-one coaching you get in our in-person classes. Our longer format puppy class and manners class are also being offered online.

Live Online Classes (via Zoom video chat)

  • Tricks Classes: Single 30-minute sessions, 2 tricks per session (repeatable)
  • Good Manners Mini Classes: One to Four 30-minute sessions, single skill per class (repeatable)
  • Puppy Mini Classes: Single 30-minute sessions on puppy-specific topics
  • Wonder Pup Puppy Kindergarten: Six 1-hour sessions meeting once per week + weekly 30-minute discussions on puppy-specific topics
  • Magnificent Manners: Five 1-hour sessions meeting once per week

Classes are limited to 6 participants or less, so you’ll still receive the same personal attention you’re used to in our face-to-face classes. Prepayment is required in order to reserve a spot in class. Missed sessions are forfeited.

FUN AND GAMES TRICKS CLASS – Live via Online Video – $10

We’ll work on 2 tricks per session. The instructor will demonstrate each stage of the trick, then coach you working with your dog via live video.

Students and dogs will likely be at different stages of training for a particular trick — that’s okay! We plan to schedule multiples sessions for each trick so you can receive coaching as you progress.

GOOD MANNERS MINI CLASSES – Live via Online Video

These classes consist of 1–4 sessions lasting 30 minutes each. We’ll work on one skill per mini-class. The instructor will demonstrate each stage of the skill, then coach you working with your dog via live video.

Teach your dog to willingly give up an item, such as toy, chew or sock.

Variety of fabulous, eye-popping food treats. e.g. Cut-up chicken breast, cheese or steak, or freeze-dried liver.

A hungry dog.

Variety of objects to practice with, some that your dog sort of likes to some your dog really likes. e.g. stuffed toy, empty Kong, Kong filled with dog food, Kong filled with treats, Kong filled with peanut butter, bully stick.



LEAVE IT – $25

Teach your dog to leave food and other items alone for up to 5 seconds on the verbal cue “leave it.”

Your dog’s leash.

Regular, flat collar or harness.



COME! – $40

Teach your dogs to come when called, starting inside the house and working up the yard.

Variety of amazing, fabulous, special food treats e.g. chicken, cheese, steak, hot dog.

A hungry dog.

It is helpful if you have 2 or more people to practice the exercises, but this is not required by any means!



DOWN-STAY – $40

Teach your dog down-stay on a mat, starting with the foundation working up to real life, in-home distractions.

Three 30-minute sessions.

Limit 5 dogs.

Prerequisite: Down for food lure.

Variety of tasty treats and a hungry dog.

Towel, mat or bed for your dog.



DOWN – $15

Teach your dog to lie down on a hand-signal, and eventually the verbal cue “down.”

RESOURCE GUARDING EXERCISES

Our goal is to teach puppies to love it when we need to take something from them or when we come near them while they’re eating. We will practice object exchange and food bowl bonus exercises. 

Details

Limit 6 puppies.

Single 30-minute session.

Variety of fabulous, eye-popping food treats and a hungry puppy. e.g. Cut-up chicken breast, cheese or steak, or freeze-dried liver.

Your puppy’s food bowl and some of your puppy’s food.

Variety of objects to practice with: stuffed toy, an empty food toy (e.g. Kong), a treat-filled food toy (e.g. Kong) and a chew toy (e.g. bully stick).



BODY HANDLING

Please note: This lesson is for prevention exercises only. If your puppy is showing signs of discomfort with body handling, please contact us for private consultations.

In this class, we will practice the foundation steps to teach your puppy to love veterinary and grooming procedures.

Each human-puppy team might be working on a different skill — that’s okay! The concept can be applied to all types of body handling procedures. We will not go through a complete procedure (that would take multiple sessions) but this will get you started.

Supplies Needed

Variety of delicious treats and a hungry puppy.

Veterinary or grooming implement. e.g. nail clippers, cotton ball, brush, toothbrush. Keep the implement hidden but nearby until we instruct you to bring it out.


WONDER PUP PUPPY KINDERGARTEN – Live via Online Video – $175

PLEASE NOTE: This class will resume in-person meetings in Ellicott City once it is safe to do so. If you are not able to attend the in-person sessions, check out some of our other offerings or contact us to let us know you’re interested! We also offer distance private classes.

Is there any better time to start teaching your puppy? Nope. Now is the best time for you and your puppy to build a strong foundation for the rest of your lives. Start socializing your puppy right away, because the critical socialization window starts to close around 12–16 weeks.

Our puppy kindergarten classes are open enrollment, meaning you can join the class as soon as a space opens. You will sign up for 6 consecutive hour-long sessions. We will also host a weekly 30-minute group session to discuss typical puppy issues like potty training, play biting and chew training.

What will we learn?
Each week is organized around a real-life theme, incorporating beginning foundational skills with a focus on socialization, good manners, problem prevention and other issues specific to puppies:Body Handling, Sit, Down, Polite Greetings, Leave It, Coming When Called, and Loose Leash Walking.

MAGNIFICENT MANNERS – Live VIA ONLINE VIDEO – $150

Want to have some fun with your adolescent or adult dog, while at the same time helping to teach focus, manners and self-control? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Basic skills with a focus on good manners:
Sit, Down, Sit-Stay, Leave-It, Drop-It, Wait, Come, Polite Greetings, Polite Walking, and more!
